Welcome to Harlem, NYC.

Welcome to our building!  We own a classic Harlem brownstone with full floor apartments in the heart of beautiful, historic Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.   Our building was constructed in 1890, and our building is full of classic brownstone details, including pocket doors and shutter windows, classic marble fireplaces and heavy wooden doors.

Here are some photos of the facade of our building on our lovely street:

This is the entry to our building:

Our brownstone is located in the Mount Morris Park Historic District in the heart of historic Harlem, Manhattan.  Harlem is a safe, family-friendly neighborhood that is just a short walk from excellent restaurants, bars and transportation options.  We are around the corner from the classic Lenox Lounge, where you can listen to incredible jazz or even sing a song or two while backed by a full jazz band on Sunday nights.   The Red Rooster and the Lenox Social are two blocks away.

Parks abound! Central Park is 13 blocks from our brownstone and it is an easy, peaceful walk to Central Park's Harlem Meer.   Mount Morris Park is at the end of our block (they have free open air jazz concerts in the summer) and the lovely Morningside Park is a ten minute walk.

We are two blocks from the 2/3 subway line, which runs down the length of Manhattan and into Brooklyn.  The 2/3 line will take you to Times Square in 5 stops, which takes around 10 minutes.  (Our stop is the 125th or 116th red 2/3 line).  Subways run all day and night in Manhattan.  In addition, it is easy to find taxis throughout our neighborhood at any time of day.

We are happy to share all of our information and knowledge about the city with you.  As life-long New Yorkers, we are proud of our beautiful city and love to help guests learn more.

APARTMENT DOWN (SLEEPS 6)

APARTMENT DOWN
Two bedrooms, one bath.  Sleeps 6.

Our "Apartment Down" is a lovely, private second floor apartment in our classic Harlem brownstone.  It includes a kitchenette, a tiny dining area, a full living area (with a sofa bed that sleeps 2) and two bedrooms (one full bed, one queen) plus a bath with a classic bathtub and a shower.

Apartment Down was furnished with care, and has many lovely original details that are typical in a classic NYC brownstone, including original display fireplaces (one in living room, one in master bedroom), 11 foot ceilings, original hardwood shutters and pocket doors.   The apartment has lovely light and is on a quiet, peaceful street in Manhattan -- yet it is only two short blocks from the 2/3 subway line and it is a nice walk to the northern part of Central Park.

Master Bedroom with Queen Bed (sleeps 2):

Small Dining Area (seats 4 comfortably, 6 cozily)

APARTMENT UP (Sleeps 8)

Apartment Up is the full second floor of the building.   It has three bedrooms (all with double beds) and a living room with a sofa bed that comfortably sleeps one adult or two children.  The rooms are all connected to a common hallway that is private.  This apartment has a small kitchenette (refrigerator, toaster oven, sink, cooktop with two burners, coffee maker, and fully stocked with plates, silverware, etc), and a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet.   The master bedroom and the living room have decorative fireplaces.

This is the living room in apartment up.   The living room includes a small kitchenette with a sink, a small fridge, a toaster oven, a two burner cooktop and plates, cups, silverware, pots and pans.

This is the master bedroom.  It has a queen size bed and a closet, as well as a small desk with a radio.   It is a peaceful and serene room with a large window onto a quiet street.  There are original antique black out shutters that can help you sleep in!

There are two small guest bedrooms in apartment up.  Here's a photo of the first one:

And here's the second one:

There is a shower room and a separate w/c with a toilet.   Small, but they do the trick!  This is the shower room:

And this is the sink in the small w/c.

The Studio "Down" (Sleeps 4)

The Studio "Down" is a lovely private studio in our historic Harlem townhouse.  It is furnished with love and care. It is a quiet, peaceful space to rest after spending long days wandering New York City's vibrant streets! The space is nice for a family. We live upstairs with our family and rent this private studio on the ground floor level of our home.

The Studio Down is a large, private space with a private entry, a large living area with a queen bed.  For families, we add two portable beds (the kind used in hotels when extra beds are needed, with Serta mattresses).

The Studio Down includes a private bathroom (small, but with a vintage claw foot tub!)

Please note, there is no kitchen -- just a small fridge that can be used to store drinks and small items.

We have great, fast wifi and cable tv. We offer lots of movies and books to borrow, too. We are also happy to lend you baby items (including a crib or stroller if you need them). Bikes are also available. Just let us know in advance if you need one.

The Studio Down has a private entrance through your own entry hall -- we live upstairs and are available if you need us, but the space that you are renting is completely private and separate from our home.

We have lived in Harlem with our family for more than 8 years, and we love our neighborhood. We are happy to share all of our resources with you!

Please note that this is an old, lovely building -- the bathroom is updated, but we have creaky old floors and old windows with shutters. Please note: NO smoking permitted in the building or on our steps.  We live here with our family so this is very important to us.
